About GORDON PALMER
My abiding interest and passion for Tolkien began with the very first reading of The Lord of the Rings in the early 70's. Since then I have illustrated and painted work inspired by Professor Tolkien's works, mainly The Hobbit; The Lord of the Rings, and The Silmarillion.
I work mainly in oils but of late increasingly digitally too. However, of the two media, I prefer the traditional, for although digital is an excellent medium, it will for me never replace the delicate touch of pencil and brush.
My other passion is the English countryside, which I like to paint when I can, usually alongside something Tolkien inspired. For no matter where one travels in the world, and the different landscapes one sees, it is difficult to surpass the lush green fields and woodlands of England.
